Aurin — a 3D headphone customiser
Choose the colour, finish, materials and engraving of a pair of headphones on a live 3D model, watch the price follow, then order what you designed.
Full size- What I was testing
- Whether a properly modelled product and a scroll-driven story could carry a whole shop page, and how quickly I could put something clickable in front of a buyer.
- What I found
- Getting the buying flow working first, on a simple shape, settled the decisions that matter before any modelling. The detailed model then earned its place, once it stopped making the page too heavy to share.
Aurin is a headphone shop I built around one idea: let customers design the product themselves, in real-time 3D, and then buy exactly what they designed. The brand is fictional. The configurator, the 3D model and the buying flow are real: open the live demo to try them.
The full story covers how it came together in four passes, the scripted Blender model, what went wrong and the making-of film.
